The ICN2 joins the Sabadell annual local festival

The Sabadell City Hall organaises every year a research and technology area during the city’s annual local festival. It is crowded with organisations sharing innovative projects. The ICN2 was sharing in one of the booths some general concepts about the nanoscale and some highlighted research lines, such as lab-on-a-chip technologies, brain-computer interfaces and superhydrophobic materials.

As part of the annual local festival, the Sabadell City Hall organises an area devoted to research and innovation. Last Saturday 7 September, companies, research institutions and associations shared innovative projects and technologies with attendees in a space named Saba-TIC. The initiative offers activities for all publics ranging from robot programming, drone piloting and interactive workshops.

After the first appearance of the ICN2 at Saba-TIC in 2017, the ICN2 technologies were again presented and discussed in an interactive booth. Visitors received a brief introduction to the nanoscale followed by a demonstration of some applications developed by the ICN2 researchers. The brain-computer interfaces developed within the BrainCom project, led by the ICN2 Advanced Electronic Materials and Devices Group, were among the ones generating a deeper discussion. Visitors also interacted with Lab-on-a-chip technologies from the Pocket project, participated by the ICN2 Nanobiosensors and Bioanalytical Applications Group, and superhydrophobic surfaces, designed by the ICN2 Phononic and Photonic Nanostructures Group. Àlex Argemí, Head of the ICN2 Marketing and Communication Department, coordinated the action and presented the materials together with the young researcher Lucía Matamoros.
